It is a comprehensive quality assurance process where field inspection is a very important part. Together with our colleagues at the Swedish Board of Agriculture, we work to ensure good food and feed production in Sweden, part of the Swedish food strategy and an important part of Swedish preparedness work.

JOB DESCRIPTION

We warmly welcome your application for the most fun fieldwork of the summer, where we guarantee plenty of exercise, fresh air, and a fantastic educational and developmental time in the Swedish agricultural landscape!

The work involves visiting and inspecting Swedish seed farms. The fields you inspect are assessed based on predetermined parameters such as variety purity and variety authenticity, occurrences of wild oats and other weeds, diseases, risk of cross-pollination, and more. This is done by you, as an inspector, physically walking through the crops and keeping records of your observations. This means that you will be outdoors daily in the Swedish agricultural landscape. A normal workday involves inspecting about 60 hectares, which means that you will walk approximately 20 kilometers daily in varying terrain, in different types of crops, in all weather.

In this position, you will have a lot of contact with farmers, mainly via phone. All our inspectors undergo internal training that concludes with a knowledge test. For new inspectors, the training consists of both theoretical sessions and practical exercises in the field. The internal training aims to provide you as a field inspector with all the knowledge and tools you need to perform well in the field. After passing the exam, the work is usually carried out in pairs, two inspectors together, but sometimes also in larger groups.

Inspections take place from Skåne in the south to Jämtland in the north. You should be flexible as the work involves both shorter and/or longer business trips to all parts of the country, often with overnight stays in locations other than your placement.

The employment period is determined by the arrival of spring and the ripening of the crops. Most inspections are carried out the week after Midsummer until the first week of August. As a new field inspector, you will therefore start around Midsummer. The first field inspections are carried out at the end of May or the beginning of June. Experienced field inspectors may therefore start around June 10.

QUALIFICATIONS

We are primarily looking for someone with experience related to agriculture or the green sector, mainly in crop production. Due to the nature of the work, you need to have the physical ability to walk a distance of up to about 20 kilometers daily and to travel for work, often with overnight stays in locations other than your placement.

You will travel to the fields by car, so a valid driver's license (B) is a requirement for the position. Since the position involves contact with farmers and work in various data systems, good knowledge of Swedish is a requirement for the position.

It is an advantage if you are currently studying or have completed a relevant post-secondary green education.

We place great importance on your personal qualities. As a person, you are meticulous and care about maintaining good quality and structure in your work. You remain calm even when there is a lot to do and continue to work in a solution-oriented and methodical way to carry out your tasks effectively.

Please submit your application as soon as possible, as we conduct interviews on an ongoing basis.

OTHER

For us, it is important that all competencies in the labor market are utilized. We welcome all applicants and strive for diversity.

When you register your application, you will be asked to answer a number of questions. Please fill in the questions as thoroughly as you can to facilitate processing.

In preparation for the recruitment process, we have decided on recruitment channels and marketing. Therefore, we do not wish to be contacted by advertisement sellers or recruitment companies.
